There are a couple of key things missing here. One is related to debt forgiveness perhaps or past criminal activity, and that is everything related to Trump Tower Moscow. Trump and his lawyer Cohen lied about the deal and tried to minimize it, and there’s been a host of irregularities uncovered in the deal including large sums of money loaned out for unknown purposes.

The other big item missing is that if Trump and his campaign staff colluded with Russians to trade campaign help for policy relief, then Russians will have tapes of everything. The collusion IS the kompromat. A lot of people ave missed this point entirely. I think our knee-jerk response is that a criminal activity was happening and nobody in the room would tape that. But it’s important to remember that this is NOT A CRIME for the Russians. It would practically make them heroes. There’s no downside to taping everything.
